Can you actually play with 9kg string tension? 🎾
In this video, I teamed up with Jeanne Marchi Manissier at the London UTS Center Court to take on the ultimate gear challenge: playing with a racket strung at the exact same ultra-low tension as ATP pro Adrian Mannarino.
Mannarino is the undisputed “king of low tension” on the ATP and UTS Tour, famously stringing his Babolat frames between 8 kg and 11 kg (17.6 lbs – 24.2 lbs). While the tour average sits between 22 kg and 25 kg, Mannarino uses this “trampoline effect” to generate effortless depth with his signature flat, compact swing. We went in expecting a total lack of control and a massive power boost, but the reality on court was far more confusing than we imagined.
Things went into another dimension once we started playing high-stakes games with “The C.” You’d think it would be easy to identify a racket by the sound and feel of the strike, but this session quickly turned into pure chaos. If you’ve ever wondered how a pro handles strings that feel like a net, you’re going to love this.
