In this episode, I had the opportunity to work with Reita during a practice session, a brilliant 10-year-old with an incredible tennis mind for his age.
Reita gave me some insight into his game when we first met, outlining in great detail all of his strengths and weaknesses. Because of his size and strength, we decided to focus on taking the ball early, and I gave him some tennis tip to increase shot speed and take time away from opponents.
We also looked at the importance of always creating with our tennis – either depth, or short angles – and sharpened up some of Reita’s backhand volleys and cross-court shots.
Watch this video to see how Reita transform from moving backwards ahead of shots, to taking the ball early, plus hitting a much more effective, accurate backhand volley.
