Are Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner unbeatable? At the moment, yes. Today in this video, we’re going to continue exploring the potential young players who could compete with Jannik and Carlos in the future.
He’s not young but we have to mention Novak Djokovic. He hasn’t had the level this past year to beat them, but he’s always present. And then you have the rest of the field, with many different personalities and playing styles.
For Djokovic, the big question is: how long will he stay on tour with the feeling that he cannot beat Carlos and Jannik and will continue losing in Grand Slam semi-finals? I don’t think he will play like that for long.
Apart from Jannik, Carlos, and Djokovic, the current struggle of Alexander Zverev is worth discussing. He has been the solid number three for a while, but Djokovic still ranks above him in Grand Slam results. Djokovic is focusing only on Grand Slams, and that’s what counts. Zverev’s early exits, his search for help from Toni Nadal, and not achieving immediate results don’t mean he won’t succeed in the future. Maybe he will, but it shows he is looking for solutions because he really wants to win a Slam.
Who do I see as potential rivals to Carlos and Jannik in the future? They will need a great forehand, a great backhand, a great serve, excellent movement, and a strong mindset.
First, I think of Ben Shelton. To me, Ben is better than all the other Americans. There are great players in the American team, of course Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, but Ben’s potential is higher. That’s why I mentioned him first.
Of course, Felix Auger-Aliassime coming back to a great level after several very difficult years was also great news for tennis.
Then I’m also thinking about João Fonseca, Holger Rune and Jack Draper and Jakub Mensik.
