In this third of its kind one-hour transformation video, I worked on the tennis court with a very talented young British player, Denzell Darkey (born in 2010).
I didn’t know exactly what I would work with him when I arrived on the court. I knew his coach (Max Phillips on the screen) had done great work with him and it’s very important to feel free to make your own observation with a young tennis player.
Basically I noticed two things on Denzell Darkey’s motion :
– He could push the ball more with his backhand. It was definitely solid but it was difficult for him to hurt his opponent, just because of the motion.
– He could change his serve toss because it wasn’t executed in accordance to his dominant eye. He gained accuracy, power and later on we also worked on the slice effect.
– What was great during the session is how fast Denzell was able to register the changes I showed him. For average players you need days, weeks or even months to see the changes. Denzell was able to execute it right away and to feel it instantly.
That is – among many other assets – why he can become an amazing tennis player in the future.
